Turn Those Lights Off!!!

“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.” – John 3:19-21 The Message (MSG)

I was pleasantly surprised today by the dismissal of a rather shameful lawsuit. The lawsuit was a direct attack on Believers and their ability to honor our Father.

It seems that in the recent decades there have been more and more lawsuits filed in an attempt to squash the Believer’s Spirit and the effectiveness we have in this world. I use the word effectiveness because in essence whenever a believer opens their mouth they have the ability to do damage to the world of darkness and bring in God’s glorious Light. They wish to silence our voice not realizing that God has the ultimate power over all things.

The power of light will always overpower any darkness. Even in space, the light from a star or sun illuminates the area around it. Not only is warmth and energy provided but also the necessary elements that sustain and support their universes systems.

We are called to be God’s Light in the world. I sometimes get the comical image of someone walking into a room and flicking on the lights only to see bugs run for cover. Many of the world deeds are those same “bugs” who prefer to do their deeds undisbursed and unseen. They know they shouldn’t be there doing what they are doing. They in fact feel “THREATENED” as soon as the light is turned on and their presence and deeds are known.

No one who feels fine or indifferent in their actions cares what others think. And for me that is the whole point. How many of us when faced with conviction immediately  lash out with either “well you don’t understand” or one of my favorites “who are you to judge me???”. We automatically feel defensive or threatened. Even in the garden when our Father looked for Adam and Eve they were hiding! And when confronted with their actions what was their response??? Well in so many words it was “well it’s not my fault!” If everything were truly “fine” and they thought their actions were “fine” then why hide? Regardless of what society places in people’s heads as our freedom and ability to choose what seems right that doesn’t make it the right choice. Ultimately when our first parents chose to eat what was forbidden they made the choice to know right from wrong and to deal with the consequences. We then had the “ability” to chose. But having knowledge in no way invalidates what sin is. In fact, it adds validity to the sins we commit because we are fully aware of our actions. We can’t hide behind “no one told me” or “how would I have known”.

And that is why so many of us want to “stay in the dark”. The saying goes ignorance is bliss… but you know that statement in and of itself is ignorant. We self-deceive ourselves that “I can’t be held accountable for what I don’t know right???” Well you see there’s still a problem with even that. With the eating of that fruit we were ALL provided the supernatural ability to have a conscience of discernment. A natural ability to know what is right from what is wrong. Now some of us choose to subdue our consciences more than others, and Satan is there to provide motive for doing so. Some people have fallen so deeply under his grasp that their conscience is but a flicker, but nevertheless we all still have one.

Satan is an enemy of the Light. He has nothing in common with those that dwell in or are Light bringers. Christ spoke this;

“ You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.”  – John 8:44

God wants us to turn to Him! He wants to “To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’’ – Acts 26:18

We all struggle and sometimes wish to “stay in the dark” but we are called to a New Way of life. A life filled with the Light of Christ and to shine our Lamps upon this world. In these dark days let us shine forth and agree to Turn Those Lights On.

Be Forever Blessed.
